Kris – “Captain”
I’m the proud father of five amazing kids and the husband of my incredible wife, Amy. For the past 26 years, I’ve built a career in Non-Destructive Testing, culminating in the ownership and successful sale of my own inspection and testing company, which also included a blast and paint yard. Throughout this journey, I’ve always felt a deep connection to the water, having been passionate about boating since I was 18 years old.Owning a Nordhavn has long been a dream of mine, and with the recent sale of my business, I’ve finally realized that dream. Now, with “Spirit of Ulysses” as our new home, we’re excited to embark on this incredible adventure, exploring the world by sea and creating lasting memories as a family.
Amy -“Admiral/ School Teacher”
As a mother of five (sometimes six, if you count Kris!), my life is a whirlwind of homeschooling, running the boat, and cooking up meals on the fly. It’s a busy, sometimes chaotic, but deeply rewarding life that gives our family the freedom we’ve always dreamed of. Even in the midst of all the hustle, there’s always a part of me missing Gabby, but I wouldn’t trade this adventure for anything.
Liam – “Chief Engineer”
Hi! I’m Liam, and I’m 12 years old. On “Spirit of Ulysses,” I’m kind of like the chief engineer—I love helping my dad with the boat and making sure everything’s running smoothly. When I’m not busy with that, I’m usually eating my favorite foods like chilly noodles and mac and cheese.
One of the coolest things about living on the boat is getting to go free diving and snorkeling around the reefs. I really enjoy exploring underwater and seeing all the amazing fish and coral. It’s like a whole new world down there, and I’m always excited to jump in and check it out. Being out on the water is awesome, and I can’t wait for the next adventure!
Nicky – “Deckhand/ Junior Angler”
Hi, I’m Nicky, and I’m 10 years old. Living on “Spirit of Ulysses” is awesome because I get to catch big fish and swim as much as I want! Whether we’re anchored near a reef or out in open water, I’m always ready to dive in and explore. There’s nothing better than reeling in a huge fish or spending the day swimming in the ocean. I can’t wait to see what the next adventure brings!
Hannah – “Navigator in training / Friend Finder”
Hi, I’m Hannah, and I’m 8 years old. Living on “Spirit of Ulysses” is a lot of fun, even if I’m stuck on a boat with all these boys! I love being out on the water, but I’m always on the lookout to make new friends wherever we go. Exploring new places is exciting, but it’s even better when I meet other kids to play with. I can’t wait to see who I’ll meet next on this big adventure!.
Justin – “1st Mate/ Chief Fisherman”
Hi, I’m Justin, and I’m 6 years old. The best thing about living on “Spirit of Ulysses” is that I get to go fishing all the time! I love catching fish with my dad—it’s so cool! Plus, he’s home more now, so we get to hang out a lot. Whether we’re out on the water or just hanging around the boat, I’m always ready for the next big catch!
Gabby
Hello! I’m Gabby, the eldest daughter of the Townend crew. While I’m primarily based in Perth for my university studies, I make it a priority to join my family on “Spirit of Ulysses” whenever I can. Though my time on the boat is limited, every break I get is an opportunity to dive into our adventures and make the most of our time together. The experiences and memories I gather during these trips are truly special, and I cherish every moment spent exploring new places and sharing in the joy of our journeys. Even from afar, my heart is always with the family, and I look forward to every chance I get to be a part of our maritime adventures.
